Patient Checklist

When coming for treatment at HNRK, please bring:

  • Identity document (passport; ID card)
  • Letter of guarantee (if payment is based on a letter of guarantee)
  • Personal care items (incl. diapers)
  • Personal toiletries (shower gel, sponge, toothbrush and toothpaste)
  • Personal assistive devices (wheelchair, rollator, orthoses, crutches)
  • Daily medications
  • Indoor shoes (sports shoes), sports attire (preferably a long tracksuit), and swimwear
  • For those staying longer in the hospital: stationery, entertainment (e.g., books), a small amount of cash or a bank card

For clarifying questions, please contact our reception.

  • On the first day of treatment, we recommend arriving at the hospital before noon.
  • On the day of arrival at the hospital, meals will be provided starting with dinner.
  • We recommend not bringing valuables and large sums of money to the hospital, or depositing them in the department’s safe.
  • Visiting hours are daily from 10 AM to 8 PM.
  • All patients are kindly requested to familiarize themselves with the patient internal regulations.

Leisure Time at HNRK

HNRK has created various opportunities for patients to spend their free time pleasantly, actively, and productively.

Throughout HNRK, there is free Wi-Fi access.

Patients are allowed to bring their own laptop. HNRK also provides for patients to use desktop computer. The desktop computer also has an ID card reader.

In the departments and on the 1st floor lobby, there are various lounge areas, where you can watch TV, read books, play games and socialize with companions. There are also TVs in the hospital wards.

In the public areas of buildings A and B, across all floors, for non-therapy movement and play, for practicing manual activities, as well as for diverse puzzling and cognitive activities, there is a Wellness Trail with more than 40 activity points. The activity and play points along the trail are equipped with information boards and instructions. To complete the Wellness Trail, you can ask for a trail map (with a personalized legend if desired) from the department’s nursing station.

It is possible to play various games, such as billiards, table tennis, boccia, carrom, cricket, pétanque, and numerous different board games. More detailed information about using the games is available at the HNRK information desk (on the 1st floor) and from the nursing station.

In HNRK’s public Activity and Play Park on the Sadama 20 premises, there is a 150m long, with priority use for HNRK patients for training, wheelchair training track with exercise stations of varying difficulty, outdoor gym equipment and ball game areas. Children can find in the activity park a  playground complex, where they can climb and practice their skills with various games, sandpits, swings and other various play areas. Information about the use of the park areas, as well as table tennis equipment, basketballs for use in the park, and the key for the wheelchair swing, can be requested and borrowed from the HNRK Information Desk. In the patient lounge areas at the end of the 2nd and 3rd floor ward buildings and in the corner of the 2nd floor therapy building, there are for patients to use, respectively, recumbent exercise bike and arm ergometer. Ergometers are a good opportunity to stay active during the day, even outside of therapy sessions. The use of ergometers is entirely at the patient’s own risk.

Theater and music groups visit HNRK several times a year, offering free theater and concert experiences primarily for the patients of our rehabilitation center. Craft and game evenings are organized for children, and for adults,  experience-sharing meetings on various topics.

The 1st floor lobby features exhibitions of various artists and photographers. On weekdays, the  HNRK CAFE.

Additionally, the hospital offers various leisure opportunities in its peaceful and beautiful surroundings. It is possible to walk on the Promenade, visit Haapsalu Kuursaal, Lossiplats (Castle Square), and small cozy cafes, and admire the art of Evald Okas and Epp-Maria Kokamägi. During the summer, Haapsalu hosts many concerts and performances, and to allow enjoyment of these, the summer season’s quiet hours are later than in winter.
