Inpatient rehabilitation
Inpatient rehabilitation is a rehabilitation service provided over a specified number of days (as stipulated in §13 of the “Health Insurance Fund’s List of Health Services” based on §30, subsection 1 of the Health Insurance Act) in a hospital or rehabilitation center.
Intensive functional rehabilitation
(Health Insurance Fund code 8029)
Intensive functional rehabilitation (Health Insurance Fund code 8029) – 21 days – up to 3 times within 18 months after acute illness, trauma, or surgery, which has resulted in the person developing:
- severe mobility and/or transfer function disorder or
- moderate mobility and/or transfer function disorder and additionally at least two severe or moderate functional disorders from the following list:
- speech disorder;
- swallowing disorder;
- memory and/or cognitive function disorders;
- bladder and/or bowel function disorders;
- disorder of activity and participation function due to hand motor impairment.
The Health Insurance Fund assumes the obligation to pay for 21-day rehabilitation if the patient’s functions and treatment needs have been assessed and documented by the treatment team at least at the beginning and end of the treatment.
Functional rehabilitation (Health Insurance Fund code 8028)
Functional rehabilitation (Health Insurance Fund code 8028) — a 14-day programme — is indicated for individuals who, following an acute illness, injury, or surgery, require inpatient rehabilitation due to a moderate or severe functional impairment. The Health Insurance Fund covers the cost of this service up to two times within 12 months after the incident.
Self-payment – a daily bed fee of €5 (for the first 10 days).
Supportive functional rehabilitation (Health Insurance Fund codes 8030 and 8031)
Function-supporting rehabilitation (Health Insurance Fund codes 8030 and 8031) – respectively 10 days (applicable to individuals aged 19 and over) and 14 days (applicable to individuals under 19 (incl.) – is indicated for:
- 8030 – chronic musculoskeletal function disorders, balance and proprioception disorders, cardiac or respiratory function disorders, if previous rehabilitation has been effective and/or inpatient treatment is indicated according to the rehabilitation doctor’s assessment;
- 8031 – in the presence of neurodevelopmental and rehabilitation indications;
For supportive functional rehabilitation, the self-payment for individuals over 19 years old is a daily bed fee of €5 per day (for up to 10 days). The cost of an inpatient rehabilitation bed day financed by the Health Insurance Fund includes accommodation, catering, necessary care and nursing, and services that assist in developing and/or maintaining independent coping skills.
Services offered within inpatient rehabilitation at HNRK:
- rehabilitation physician’s consultation
- 24-hour nursing and care
- physiotherapy (including services on high-tech equipment as indicated)
- occupational therapy
- social worker’s consultation
- speech and language therapy
- psychology and/or neuropsychology
As supporting services:
- activities in the pool in a group or individually
- electrotherapy, including magnetotherapy, laser therapy, ultrasound therapy, stimulation therapy
- classic massage
- paraffin therapy for hands
- kinesio taping
